Remember Who You Are (English) - The Lion King
Today I chose one more scene from "The Lion King" for my daily transcription. It calls "Remember Who You Are". Simba meets Rafiki who claims that his father Mufasa is still alive and lives "in him".
Rafiki: Look down there...
Simba: That`s not my father. That`s just my reflection.
Rafiki: No, look harder.... You see? He lives in you.....
Mufasa: Simba...
Simba: Father?
Mufasa: Simba, you have forgotten me.
Simba: No. How could I?
Mufasa: You have forgotten who you are, and so forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life.
Simba: How can I go back? I`m not who I used to be.
Mufasa: Remember who you are! You are my son!! And the one true King!!! Remember who you are...
Simba: No, please, don`t leave me...
Mufasa: Remember...
Simba: Father!
Mufasa: Remember...
Simba: Don`t leave me.......
Mufasa: Remember.....

Lion King - Mufasa and Simba (English)
One of the greatest way for study English for me is singing my favorite English songs and watching Disney movies.
Undoubtedly, my favoriteanimated film is "The Lion King", which I watched when I was a teenager. "The Lion King" is a 1994 American animated musical epic film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 32nd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. It wa directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff and produced by Don Hahn.
The story takes place in a kingdom of lions in Africa. This is a story about a young lion Simba who is to sicceed his father, Mufasa, as king; however, after Simba`s uncle Scar murders Mufasa, Simba is manipulated into thinking he was responsible and flees into exile in shame and despair. Upon maturation living with wto wastrels, Timon and Pumbaa, Simba is given some valuable perspective from his friend, Nala, and his shaman, Rafiki, before returning to challenge Scar to end his tyranny.
Today, I chose the scene when Mufasa is giving some lessons for his little son Simba, after Simba`s dangerous adventure with Nala. Honestly, this is the one of my favorite moment in this film. Greatness of strong and fair king Mufasa make you love him and respect his words. This incredible and at the same moment sad scene touches your heart very deeply...
I would like to write down this scene like I hear it.
Mufasa: Zazu!
Zazu: Yes, sir!
Mufasa: Take Nala home! I`ve got to teach my son a lesson.
Zazu: Come, Nala! Simba, huh... good luck...
Mufasa: Simba!
Mufasa: Simba, I'm very disappointed in you.
Simba: I know.
Mufasa: You could have been killed! You deliberately disobeyed me! And what's worse, you put Nala in danger!
Simba: I was just trying to be brave like you.
Mufasa: I'm only brave when I have to be. Simba, being brave doesn't mean you go looking for trouble.
Simba: But you're not scared of anything.
Mufasa: I was today.
Simba: You were?
Mufasa: Yes. I thought I might lose you.
Simba: Oh...I guess even kings get scared, huh?
Mufasa: Uhu...
Simba: But you know what?
Mufasa (whispers): What?
Simba (whispers): I think those hyenas were even scarier.
Mufasa ( laughs): `Coz nobody messe with your dad! Come here, you!
Simba: Oh no, no...aahhh
( playing and laughing together)
Simba: Dad..
Mufasa: Uh?
Simba: We`re power, right?
Mufasa: Right
Simba: And we`ll always be together, right?
Mufasa: Simba...Let me tell you something that my father told me. Look at the stars. The Great Kings of the past look down on us from those stars.
Simba: Really?
Mufasa: Yes. So, whenever you feel alone, just remember that those Kings will always be there to guide you..and so am I.....

Should You Be Worried About MERS?
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS, is a viral respiratory illness that is relatively new to humans. It was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and is commonly localized to the Arabian Peninsula, however, it has since spread to several other countries, including the United States, France, and most recently South Korea.
MERS like SARS, is a coronavirus that typically present as a cold and upper respitatory infection including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. MERS is dangerous because it is more severe then a common cold, and can lead to gastrointestinal symptoms and kidney failure.
As with all infections, children, seniours, and people with compromised immune systems or pre-existing medical conditions are more likely to contact MERS. Umfortunately, this list includes mostly the type of people found in hospitals, making hospitalization in an area experiencing an outbreak of MERS a huge risk-factor for infection. Other risk factors include direct interaction with an infected person, travel to the Arabian Peninsula or interaction with a camel. Yep, camel.
Based on information from the US Center for Disease Control, the incubation peroid, or time between exposure to MERS and the appearance of symptoms, is usually about 5 or 6 days, but can be anywhere from 2-14 days. Patient zero in the recent South Korea outbreak was a man who traveled to countries in the Middle East and did not exhibit any symptoms on his return flight to Korea. He became sick a week later.
MERS is not thought to be easily transmitted between humans, that is why the extent of the South Korean outbreak, with three deaths and the number of people in quarantine at 1600 and climbing, is confusing to scientists. Actually, scientists are confused by a lot more than that because we do not actually know how the disease spreads. SARS, its sister disease, is communicated via virus laden droplets from a cough or sneeze but it is possible that MERS is airborne like measles, which can linger in a room for hours.
To date, there have only been three reported cases of MERS in the US, but worldwide MERS has a mortality rate of 30% which is pretty scary! But if you are a healthy adult who washes their hands frequently, and actively avoids contact with sick people and camels, you will probably be okay. And just be safe if you are planning any trips to South Korea or the Arabian Peninsula in the near future.
What scary disease are you most concerned about?
What is MERS?
Since 21st of May 2105, the Republic of Korea has been investigating an outbreak of MERS. It is the largest known outbreak of MERS outside the Middle East.
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is a viral respiratory illness that is new tohumans. It was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and has since spread to several other countries, including the United States. Most people infected with MERS-CoV developed severe acute respiratory illness, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Many of them have died.
Since May 2105, 87 people in South Korea have been infected, 7 people died, and more than 2,000 are under quarantine or observation, uncluding the first teenager to be infected with the virus. Seoul`s mayor has declared "war" on MERS.
MERS-CoV, like other coronaviruses, is thought to spread from an infected person’s respiratory secretions, such as through coughing. However, the precise ways the virus spreads are not currently well understood.
If you develop fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or shortness of breath, you should call ahead to a healthcare provider for an evaluation. Your healthcare provider may request laboratory testing and outline additional recommendations, depending on the findings of your evaluation and whether you have symptoms. You most likely will be asked to monitor your health for 14 days, starting from the day you were last exposed to the ill person.
Watch for these symptoms:
- Fever. Take your temperature twice a day
- Coughing
- Shortness of breath
- Other early symptoms to watch for are chills, body aches, sore throat, headache, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, and runny nose
If you develop symptoms, call ahead to your healthcare provider as soon as possible and tell him or her about your possible exposure to MERS-CoV, so the office can take steps to keep other people from getting
infected. Ask your healthcare provider to call the local or state health department.

Job Interview in the class))
It is always better do not watch yourself on the video))
When I speak in real life, I feel that i am pretty good in English..but when I listen my recording.......
Anyway, let is figure out my mistakes and try to work on them.
First of all, I should speak more loudly and be more confident. Also I should finish every phrases from my monologue till the end, and then start a new sentence..
My mistakes:
1:08- this questions can describe me ( these adjectives can describe me)
1:50- I try to more detail ( I try to do it in detail)
2:20- As I am a professional singer, so my best is ( .........., the things that I can do the best are....)
2:28- dance style of Michael jackson ( Michael Jackson`s style of dancing)
2:32- my best skills is ( my best skills are)
2:45- my weaknesses is still my Korean ( my weaknesses are my Korean, .........)
3:20- I also know English and Korean as well ( I know English and Korean as well)
3:52- can do on my way, on my style ( can do by my way, by my style)
4:10- previous experience to work ( previous working experience)
4:35- a great ideas ( great ideas)
I also want to mention that I do nor need to say "EEE" or "AAA" during pauses or start my monologues from these sounds, and I do not need to always repeat the phrase " As I am a professional musician".
Hope watching myself helps me to improve my English skills, realize my mistakes and find the best way of studying)) Not only for me but also for many students))

Job Interview - Do's and Don'ts.
Last Wednesday we had a nice job interview with our classmates. The goal was to tell about yourself during several minutes. In my case, the problem was that I told about myself very fast. During my speech I tried to follow my notes, but somethimes I just feel frozen because I simply forgot what I should tell the next. I also should add more adjectives about my personal characteristics and professional skills. Do not forget, Kateryna, to use adverbs as well to make your speech more saturated to make people be more interested in you. Of course, I saw my video only one time. I always shy to look at myself when I am singing or speaking. Eye contact is very important as well, and the face should be relaxed.
I think before going to interview I should practicing my speech in front of the mirror and do not forget to smile. A sincere smile this is the best weapon :)
Second SHELF Project. Song from musical "Les Miserables" One Day More
This time our talanted group decided not only speak about the music, but also create our own music video "One Day More"( from musical "Les Miserables").
"Les Miserables" is a French historical novel by Victor Hugo, that is considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. The musical was made by Claude-Michel Schönberg, original French lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, with an English-language libtetto by Herbert Kretzmer.
We had practiced almost every day gathering by small groups. We listened and sang this song more then million times and we still do not feel tired. I was very surprised that my team can sing like professionals, we also can direct all parts and at the same time to shoot video on the camera. It was very big experience for me to work with people who really want to work as hard as they could, making our project bright, unusual and incredibly interesting! I am very happy and glad that our music band could find each other not only like a project team, but also like good friends! Hope to work with them our third time as well!
