How to tell to the Universe what you want?

How to tell to the Universe what you want?

To fulfill our best wishes and desires correctly and on time, we should formulate them in the right way. Depending on your perception of the world, you can consider the following information as a just a fairy tale or as the most valuable words you have ever heard. Despite your opinion, here is the best instruction for ordering your desires that consist of several points:

- The desire should not be a condition for the fulfillment of another desire
- Desire should stimulate you only to have feelings but not the thoughts about the new desires
- The desire should be environmentally friendly and focused only on you
First of all, you should exactly know your real desire. However, how to realize it? For example, you want to get fifty thousand dollars but what for? For buying a new apartment, a good car and the rest of money put in the bank. Now we have three desires, and from now on we have to reflect on every of them individually. Let us begin! Why do you need a new apartment? I want to live separate from my parents. Why do you want to live separate from your parents? The reason is that I do not like when they control me. I want to be free! As soon as your answer expresses your feelings, you have to consider this desire as the most real, which should to be asked from the Universe.

Secondly, what will happen with you after your dream comes true? The answer is "I will feel happiness!" Let`s come back to those fifty thousand dollars. When I have "A"(fifty thousand dollars), I will have "B" and "C", and "D" and so on. We can realize that we should do something with the money, and this is the right signal that the wish of money is not the right wish. If the new apartment is just the way to escape from parents' control, then you should order not the new apartment but freedom from your parents. In other words, you can get the new apartment but not the freedom from the parental surveillance. That is why you should think over the results of your desires because the Universe will make a reality of it.

Thirdly, the desire should be environmentally friendly and focused only on you. It means that in the result of your desire nobody could suffer from it. Unfortunately, we cannot avoid the hardship in our life, and it is possible that your fondest dream to get a new apartment could come true if you inherited this apartment after the death of one of your old or sick relatives. However, it is necessary to remember that everything is under control of the Universe. Your wish will always come true by the most rational way and according to Universe's scenario about the lives of all the people who surround you. Try just accepting everything as the way it is. Also, if you wish somebody bad luck, you have to remember that everything turn to you back as a boomerang. That is why we have to be careful and formulate our desires in the right way and positively for the environment and surrounded people.

Even though these three ideas seem unusual, and it is probably difficult to believe, these three simple rules to order your desires to the Universe could help you to reach your goals without any stresses, investment of money or risky business. For people who think it is just fairy tale, I recommend trying this technique of ordering your desires as soon as possible. After all, you have nothing to lose. It is better to try and just see what will happen in the future then just complaining about the problems and boring life. Our Universe is boundless, infinite and unlimited. Every restriction that you make, they are just of your bad fantasy. Let us pull the yoke to ourselves and ascend to the sky!

A Shameful Night))))

A shameful night

It was one more usual performance, which I had done every evening during several years. That night, I just wanted to sing for the audience who came to the restaurant to listen to our music band. However, at the same time, I did not want to look in people's eyes. According to my previous experience, sometimes the audience acted strangely. For example, tried to touch the singer, dance with her on the stage during performances without her permission, try to hug her or even hit her.

Unfortunately, there was no security to protect musicians at that restaurant, and the main manager did not care about the situations that sometimes happened when customers were drunk. That was the reason why I tried to sing for the audience without the eye-contact. In other words, I ignored them. However, that night totally changed my mind, that was shrouded by prejudice.

While I was singing, a hunched figure appeared in front of me. It was really dark looking out from the stage, so I could not make out who it was. I even did not try to understand what was going on, and just did one step deep into the stage. However, this figure began come closer to me.

"God",  I thought , "one more strange thing...What is he going to do? Why is nobody taking him away from  the stage? Again and again... all the same!!!", thoughts spun around in my head while my lips were singing a song.

Closer and closer...step by step…….but suddenly he stopped. “Thank God!”, I thought, “just get him away from here!” At the same moment, somebody ran over to this stranger, took him by his arm, and helped him to get close to me. I could not bear it anymore and I began to stare at these violators of my soul peace. The picture what I saw made me feel very ashamed. This hunched figure was a very old Korean man with big brown eyes filled with joyful expectations. He looked at me like he saw something unusual, something that he has never seen before. Also he wanted to say something but his body was shaking and he even could not open his mouth. I stopped singing and tried to catch what he wanted to say. Then, the girl who helped him to come, whispered tenderly some words in his ear. After her kindly admonition, the old  Korean man gingerly placed ten dollars as a tip in my hands. His eyes were so clear and pure like a child who was taking his first steps. “Thank you for your songs”, he said to me in English.  At that tender moment, tears spurted from my eyes. I have never felt so ashamed and embarrassed, but, on the other hand, perfect bliss and affection filled my heart. “There are still grateful people from the audience”, I thought, “who appreciate art and my singing sincerely…”
After that working day, I thought much about that old man. I felt I should noticed him earlier, instead of singing with closed heart. Life brought to me a valuable lesson to be more kind to the people. In any situation I should stay a person, a kind and open-hearted person, the way I really was and I am now.

Unfortunately, I have never seen my “brown-eyed admirer” again but I have never forgotten such unforgettable emotions he brought to me. Even now and one more time I just want to say him “THANK YOU!!!”

He visited this musical in Seoul last year, he described his feelings and expectations from this great event.. Moreover, his page has some information about live concert of my favorite singer Bruno Pelletier who plays the role of poet Grenguare in Luc Plamondon`s Notre Dame des Paris. Only men should initiate the romantic relationships

Although these days we can see lots of TV shows, radio programs and magazine or internet articles about women taking the first step in romantic relationships, they do not represent everyone's opinions. Despite what we see on TV, some people still have conservative mindsets, thus many women still wait for the first step from men. Followers of this theory totally agree because men are always considered as a "strong gender", they have to support their families and, at least, it is their man's nature. That is why if society wants to have normal and developed families, only men should take the first step and create the romantic relationships.
Firstly, man is the "stronger gender". That fact was accepted by society from generation to generation, and we can find many proofs of this fact in history. In the Bible, God created man first. In the primitive communal system the main figure was a man. Also, during the Medieval Age royal status was received mostly by men. Moreover, all famous and talented people from the Renaissance were men. We can mention famous artists from history, such as Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci and so on. These days, mostly men have high positions in politics as in the past. Turning back to history, only men fought in wars and served their kings. Knights were only men as well. Moreover, only men could get education. The   woman's duty was just taking care of their children and cleaning their houses. These reasons could bring us to the next fact, related to men supporting families.
Secondly, in all epochs of human cultural development man was considered as a supporter and protector of his family. Men hunted animals, fish and birds in order to feed their families and themselves. In addition, they always protected their homes and land from the raids of invaders and from military clashers. We can also deduce our thoughts and feelings by the evidence from many historical archives, excavations and discoveries of rock drawings until the time of the Paleolithic Era, when people started displaying and recording history of their daily life.
Thirdly, we can consider that historical events had developed the man and in his nature way, compose his nature as a man. If the man is considered as a hunter, consequently, who is the fox? Is it woman?  Every hunter tries to catch the fox and it is a natural way of life. However, have you even seen the fox catching the hunter? It is contrary to the nature laws of nature, it is looks strange, even funny. Also, if the woman is warrior, who can give birth? It is only woman's mission, is not it?
Although I pointed some facts from history and support my point of view, there are still many people who totally disagree with me. They point that now is another generation, that women are independent and can support themselves financially. Moreover, they say that many women can get high position in politics, even can be the presidents of their countries these days. They also say that nowadays men are shy, there are not many good guys, and women should be more persistent and rush to find normal men in order to get married. However, our society still have the conservative mind, ideas and rules that evolved for thousands of years. These strong rules can not be changed or forgotten so quickly. The new generation started new rules only decades ago, but it is not so strong compared with the whole history.
In conclusion, although this is a vexed question, I feel that only men should initiate romantic relationships. It has been revealed historically and naturally, and nobody can dispute with historical facts. Men should reach the goal (in this case, the woman) to match their natural instincts. Moreover, it is also very pleasant for women to feel the strong man's nature and protection as well. As a woman with conservative mindset, I expect men to initiate romance in relationships and I am a hundred percent sure that most women have the same opinion. In addition, I recommend men do not forget their masculine nature which will make women around the world feel like woman.

Third SHELF Project. Making Cake

The best way for studying English is to do SHELF projects in our Audiovisual  English Class. This time we decided to get together and to do something interesting. Spalding Gray Segment From Swimming To Cambodia (On Cold War Soldier)

Uniqueness of Contemporary Playwright Spalding Gray

“I say that I can`t make anything up. I think of myself as a collage artist. I`m cutting and pasting memories of my life. And I say, I have to live a life in order to tell a life. I would prefer to tell it because telling
you`re always in control, you`re like God.” /Spalding Gray/

Spalding Gray was a famous American film actor, contemporary playwright, and screenwriter. He was also a talented theatre and television actor who wrote and performed his own roles in the films “Monster in a Box” and Gray`s Anatomy”, which became his most memorable performances.
Spalding Rockwell Gray was born in 1941, in province, Rhode Island. After he graduated Emerson
College, he began to perform in Off-Broadway plays as a supporting actor. Gray is best known for his
monologues and he had an amazing talent for live performances. He was also a co-founder of the Wooster
heater Group in New York, where he performed his first monologue “Sex and Death at the Age of 14" in 1977.
Even though Spalding had appeared on television numerous times, the greatest glory and national attention was brought to him from his play “Swim to Cambodia”, which was written in 1985 and filmed in 1987. Thanks to his play, he received the Guggenhiem Fellowship and a National Book Award. In 1992 Gray published his only novel “Impossible vacation”, based on his personal life experiences. Spalding Gray became a writer and an artist of an original genre. He invented a very unusual and rare form among artists. His autobiographical monologues people call “epic monologues” because first they were spoken and then written down. He also minimized all things in his plays, using just a table, a glass of water, his notebook and a mic. By just simply sitting and telling the audience the stories of his life, Spalding Gray portrayed himself in a huge world, using his unique style of writing and acting. At that time, there was really no one like him. He created a new kind of theatre piece for the solo performer, named “talking pieces”. Gray improvised from his memories, free associations, and he told the audiences about his childhood, his adventures as a young man, his struggles and private emotions. He also used old family photograph albums and slide projections. “He
was the most fantastic raconteur”, says his close friend Ken Kobland. “ He would come home at night, and we`d open cans of India pale ale, and he`d tell the story of his day. And we would just be totally broken up by this. He`d describe the symmetry of the world with such wit and self-awareness, such incredibly
rich detail and complexity. It was…talent is a funny word- it was a gift, a madness.”
Unfortunately, Spalding Gray suffered severe injuries in a car crash in 2001, and after that he suffered from deep depression and severe pain. He committed suicide at the age of 62. However, the world remembers him as the greatest American storyteller of his generation, a performer who turned his life into a series of brightly incisive monologues.

Remember Who You Are (English) - The Lion King

Today I chose one more scene from "The Lion King" for my daily transcription. It calls "Remember Who You Are". Simba meets Rafiki who claims that his father Mufasa is still alive and lives "in him".

 Rafiki: Look down there...

Simba: That`s not my father. That`s just my reflection.

Rafiki: No, look harder.... You see? He lives in you.....

 Mufasa: Simba...

 Simba: Father?

Mufasa: Simba, you have forgotten me.

 Simba: No. How could I?

Mufasa: You have forgotten who you are, and so forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life.

Simba: How can I go back? I`m not who I used to be.

Mufasa: Remember who you are! You are my son!! And the one true King!!! Remember who you are...

Simba: No, please, don`t leave me...

 Mufasa: Remember...

 Simba: Father!

 Mufasa: Remember...

 Simba: Don`t leave me.......

 Mufasa: Remember.....

Lion King - Mufasa and Simba (English)

One of the greatest way for study English for me is singing my favorite English songs and watching Disney movies.
Undoubtedly, my favoriteanimated film is "The Lion King", which I watched when I was a teenager.  "The Lion King" is a 1994 American animated musical epic film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 32nd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. It wa directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff and  produced by Don Hahn.
The story takes place in a kingdom of lions in Africa. This is a story about a young lion Simba who is to sicceed his father, Mufasa, as king; however, after Simba`s uncle Scar murders Mufasa, Simba is manipulated into thinking he was responsible and flees into exile in shame and despair. Upon maturation living with wto wastrels, Timon and Pumbaa, Simba is given some valuable perspective from his friend, Nala, and his shaman, Rafiki, before returning to challenge Scar to end his tyranny.
Today, I chose the scene when Mufasa is giving some lessons for his little son Simba, after Simba`s dangerous adventure with Nala. Honestly, this is the one of my favorite moment in this film. Greatness of strong and fair  king Mufasa make you love him and respect his words. This incredible and at the same moment sad scene touches your heart very deeply...

I would like to write down this scene like I hear it.

 Mufasa: Zazu!
 Zazu: Yes, sir!
Mufasa: Take Nala home! I`ve got to teach my son a lesson.
Zazu: Come, Nala! Simba, huh... good luck...
 Mufasa: Simba!
Mufasa: Simba, I'm very disappointed in you.
 Simba: I know.
Mufasa: You could have been killed! You deliberately disobeyed me! And what's worse, you put  Nala in danger!
Simba: I was just trying to be brave like you.
Mufasa: I'm only brave when I have to be. Simba, being brave doesn't mean you go looking for  trouble.
Simba: But you're not scared of anything.
 Mufasa: I was today.
 Simba: You were?
Mufasa: Yes. I thought I might lose you.
Simba: Oh...I guess even kings get scared, huh?
 Mufasa: Uhu...
 Simba: But you know what?
 Mufasa (whispers): What?
Simba (whispers): I think those hyenas were even scarier.
Mufasa ( laughs): `Coz nobody messe with your dad! Come here, you!
 Simba: Oh no, no...aahhh
 ( playing and laughing together)
 Simba: Dad..
 Mufasa: Uh?
 Simba: We`re power, right?
 Mufasa: Right
Simba: And we`ll always be together, right?
Mufasa: Simba...Let me tell you something that my father told me. Look at the stars. The Great Kings of the past look down on us from those stars.
 Simba: Really?
Mufasa: Yes. So, whenever you feel alone, just remember that those Kings will always be there to guide you..and so am I.....

Should You Be Worried About MERS?

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS, is a viral respiratory illness that is relatively new to humans. It was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and is commonly localized to the Arabian Peninsula, however, it has since spread to several other countries, including the United States, France, and most recently South Korea.

MERS like SARS, is a coronavirus that typically present as a cold and upper respitatory infection  including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. MERS is dangerous because it is more severe then a common cold, and can lead to gastrointestinal symptoms and kidney failure.

As with all infections, children, seniours, and people with compromised immune systems or pre-existing medical conditions are more likely to contact MERS. Umfortunately, this list includes mostly the type of people found in hospitals, making hospitalization in an area experiencing an outbreak of MERS a huge risk-factor for infection. Other risk factors include direct interaction with an infected person, travel to the Arabian Peninsula or interaction with a camel. Yep, camel.

Based on information from the US Center for Disease Control, the incubation peroid, or time between exposure to MERS and the appearance of symptoms, is usually about 5 or 6 days, but can be anywhere from 2-14 days. Patient zero in the recent South Korea outbreak was a man who traveled to countries in the Middle East and did not exhibit any symptoms on his return flight to Korea. He became sick a week later.

MERS is not thought to be easily transmitted between humans, that is why the extent of the South Korean outbreak, with three deaths and the number of people in quarantine at 1600 and climbing, is confusing to scientists. Actually, scientists are confused by a lot more than that because we do not actually know how the disease spreads. SARS, its sister disease, is communicated via virus laden droplets from a cough or sneeze but it is possible that MERS is airborne like measles, which can linger in a room for hours.

To date, there have only been three reported cases of  MERS in the US, but worldwide MERS has a mortality rate of 30% which is pretty scary! But if you are a healthy adult who washes their hands frequently, and actively avoids contact with sick people and camels, you will probably be okay. And just be safe if you are planning any trips to South Korea or the Arabian Peninsula in the near future.

What scary disease are you most concerned about?

What is MERS?

Since 21st of May 2105, the Republic of Korea has been investigating an outbreak of MERS. It is the largest known outbreak of MERS outside the Middle East.

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is a viral respiratory illness that is new tohumans. It was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and has since spread to several other countries, including the United States. Most people infected with MERS-CoV developed severe acute respiratory illness, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Many of them have died.

Since May 2105, 87 people in South Korea have been infected, 7 people died, and more than 2,000 are under quarantine or observation, uncluding the first teenager to be infected with the virus. Seoul`s mayor has declared "war" on MERS.

MERS-CoV, like other coronaviruses, is thought to spread from an infected person’s respiratory secretions, such as through coughing. However, the precise ways the virus spreads are not currently well understood.

If you develop fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or shortness of breath, you should call ahead to a healthcare provider for an evaluation. Your healthcare provider may request laboratory testing and outline additional recommendations, depending on the findings of your evaluation and whether you have symptoms. You most likely will be asked to monitor your health for 14 days, starting from the day you were last exposed to the ill person.

Watch for these symptoms:

- Fever. Take your temperature twice a day
- Coughing
- Shortness of breath
- Other early symptoms to watch for are chills, body aches, sore throat, headache, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, and runny nose

If you develop symptoms, call ahead to your healthcare provider as soon as possible and tell him or her about your possible exposure to MERS-CoV, so the office can take steps to keep other people from getting
infected. Ask your healthcare provider to call the local or state health department.

Job Interview in the class))

It is always better do not watch yourself on the video))
When I speak in real life, I feel that i am pretty good in English..but when I listen my recording.......
Anyway, let is figure out my mistakes and try to work on them.
First of all, I should speak more loudly and be more confident. Also I should finish every phrases from my monologue till the end, and then start a new sentence..
My mistakes:
1:08- this questions can describe me ( these adjectives can describe me)
1:50- I try to more detail ( I try to do it in detail)
2:20- As I am a professional singer, so my best is ( .........., the things that I can do the best are....)
2:28- dance style of Michael jackson ( Michael Jackson`s style of dancing)
2:32- my best skills is ( my best skills are)
2:45- my weaknesses is still my Korean ( my weaknesses are my Korean, .........)
3:20- I also know English and Korean as well ( I know English and Korean as well)
3:52- can do on my way, on my style ( can do by my way, by my style)
4:10- previous experience to work ( previous working experience)
4:35- a great ideas ( great ideas)
I also want to mention that I do nor need to say "EEE" or "AAA" during pauses or start my monologues from these sounds, and I do not need to always repeat the phrase " As I am a professional musician".
Hope watching myself helps me to improve my English skills, realize my mistakes and find the best way of studying)) Not only for me but also for many students))

Job Interview - Do's and Don'ts.

Last Wednesday we had a nice job interview with our classmates. The goal was to tell about yourself during several minutes. In my case, the problem was that I told about myself very fast. During my speech I tried to follow my notes, but somethimes I just feel frozen because I simply forgot what I should tell  the next. I also should add more adjectives about my personal characteristics and professional skills. Do not forget, Kateryna, to use adverbs as well to make your speech more saturated to make people be more interested in you. Of course, I saw my video only one time. I always shy to look at myself when I am singing or speaking. Eye contact is very important as well, and the face should be relaxed.

I think before going to interview I should practicing my speech in front of the mirror and do not forget to smile. A sincere smile this is the best weapon :)

Second SHELF Project. Song from musical "Les Miserables" One Day More

This time our talanted group decided not only speak about the music, but also create our own music video "One Day More"( from musical "Les Miserables").

"Les Miserables" is a French historical novel by Victor Hugo, that is considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. The musical was made by Claude-Michel Schönberg, original French lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, with an English-language libtetto by Herbert Kretzmer.

We had practiced almost every day gathering by small groups. We listened and sang this song more then million times and we still do not feel tired. I was very surprised that my team can sing like professionals, we also can direct all parts and at the same time to shoot video on the camera. It was very big experience for me to work with people who really want to work as hard as they could, making our project bright, unusual and incredibly interesting! I am very happy and glad that our music band could find each other not only like a project team, but also like good friends! Hope to work with them our third time as well!

 "One Day More"

[VALJEAN]

One day more!

Another day, another destiny.

This never-ending road to Calvary;

These men who seem to know my crime

Will surely come a second time.

One day more!
[MARIUS]

I did not live until today.

How can I live when we are parted?
[VALJEAN]

One day more.
[MARIUS & COSETTE]

Tomorrow you'll be worlds away

And yet with you, my world has started!
[EPONINE]

One more day all on my own.
[MARIUS & COSETTE]

Will we ever meet again?
[EPONINE]

One more day with him not caring.
[MARIUS & COSETTE]

I was born to be with you.
[EPONINE]

What a life I might have known.
[MARIUS & COSETTE]

And I swear I will be true!
[EPONINE]

But he never saw me there!
[ENJOLRAS]

One more day before the storm!
[MARIUS]

Do I follow where she goes?
[ENJOLRAS]

At the barricades of freedom.
[MARIUS]

Shall I join my brothers there?
[ENJOLRAS]

When our ranks begin to form
[MARIUS]

Do I stay; and do I dare?
[ENJOLRAS]

Will you take your place with me?
[ALL]

The time is now, the day is here
[VALJEAN]

One day more!
[JAVERT]

One day more to revolution,

We will nip it in the bud!

We'll be ready for these schoolboys,

They will wet themselves with blood!
[VALJEAN]

One day more!
[M. & MME. THENARDIER]

Watch 'em run amuck,

Catch 'em as they fall,

Never know your luck

When there's a free for all,

Here's a little 'dip'

There a little 'touch'

Most of them are goners

So they won't miss much!
[Students (2 Groups)]

[1:] One day to a new beginning
[2:] Raise the flag of freedom high!
[1:] Every man will be a king
[2:] Every man will be a king
[1:] There's a new world for the winning
[2:] There's a new world to be won
[ALL]

Do you hear the people sing?
[MARIUS]

My place is here, I fight with you!
[VALJEAN]

One day more!
[MARIUS & COSETTE]

I did not live until today.
[EPONINE]

One more day all on my own!
[MARIUS & COSETTE]

How can I live when we are parted?
[JAVERT (overlapping)]

We will join these people's heroes

We will follow where they go

We will learn their little secrets,

We will know the things they know.
[VALJEAN]

One day more!
[MARIUS & COSETTE]

Tomorrow you'll be worlds away
[EPONINE]

What a life I might have known!
[MARIUS & COSETTE]

And yet with you my world has started
[JAVERT (overlapping)]

One more day to revolution

We will nip it in the bud

We'll be ready for these schoolboys
[THENARDIERS (overlapping)]

Watch 'em run amok

Catch 'em as they fall

Never know your luck

When there's a free-for-all!
[VALJEAN]

Tomorrow we'll be far away,

Tomorrow is the judgement day
[ALL]

Tomorrow we'll discover

What our God in Heaven has in store!

One more dawn

One more day

One day more!

My First SHELF Project. Sia - Elastic Heart feat. Shia LaBeouf & Maddie Ziegler (Official Video)

The first SHELF project of our group was an interesting discussion about modern Australia singer Sia and her unusual for the audience song "Elastic Heart". We tried to duscuss about lyrics and expressed our feelings after seeing this video. To tell the truth, it was not so easy. When you see these actions of actors for the first time, you think that this is strange. Howeve, after seeing it several times, you begin to analize why the actors wear nude and dirt-smeared outfits, why this pair interpreting the song through dance-fight, crawl toward and away from eath other, show some wildly emotions in their movements. Everybody from our group memebers shared their thoughts and impressions regarding to this video with respect. I hope that this kind of work will help us not only understand modern music world but also helps us to improve our English skills with making our own chat and encouraging each other during sharing our different thoughts!

Sia "Elastic Heart"

And another one bites the dust

Oh why can I not conquer love

And I might have thought that we were one

Wanted to fight this war without weapons
And I wanted it, I wanted it bad

But there were so many red flags

Now another one bites the dust

Yeah let's be clear, I'll trust no one
[Pre-Chorus]

You did not break me

I'm still fighting for peace
[Chorus]

I've got thick skin and an elastic heart

But your blade it might be too sharp

I'm like a rubberband until you pull too hard

I may snap and I move fast

But you won't see me fall apart

'Cos I've got an elastic heart
And I will stay up through the night

Let's be clear, won't close my eyes

And I know that I can survive

I'll walk through fire to save my life
And I want it, I want my life so bad

I'm doing everything I can

Then another one bites the dust

It's hard to lose a chosen one
[Pre-Chorus]

You did not break me

I'm still fighting for peace
[Chorus]

I've got thick skin and an elastic heart

But your blade it might be too sharp

I'm like a rubberband until you pull too hard

I may snap and I move fast

But you won't see me fall apart

'Cos I've got an elastic heart

The monologue from movie " Erin Brockovich"

Hello, professor Jeff! First of all I want to apologize that I send my audio sooo late. You know I am not good with computer stuffs but I am learning. I promise to be good in it very soon :)
In my opinion, this kind of practicing with video helps students to lean not only English language and pronunciation, but intonation as well. We can study how to read and pronounce; however, nobody can teach us better intonation then native speakers. That is why copy intonation is so important, especially for begginers. The best way for it - movies and TV shows.  Even if you see them with double translation to your native language, you still listen how native speakers pronounce their dialogues. We did like this with my brother when we were small, just tried to copy our favorite characters from movies or cartoons. For the first time, it looks just like some funny game but it works :)
Thanks to "Indiana Jones", "Spaceballs", "Beauty and the Beast", "The Neverending Story" and many others good movies we could improve our ability to speak English!

I chose the monologue from movie " Erin Brockovich".

Learn English Through Song | ESL Grammar Lesson | ESL Video Lesson 43 Ad...

Song of Boney M "Heart of Gold". SHELF Project

This video has not only lyrics, but also explanations of some difficult words or phrases from this song. Even though songs of Boney M are old and not popular these days, they are still interesting, known and useful for study English)))

Are You Learning English? These Songs May Help. SHELF Project

Explanation of this video below. This video did not downloaded from first time...

SHELF Project

There are several interesting topiks to do for final exam. It will be fun to make some soup opera or sketch comedy, books Clubs or Movie/TV Show rewiews. However, as a professional musician, I would like to do TV show related with songs. I recommend to study English by singing famous songs.

First of all, everybody has favorite English songs. By listening them, you feel relax, emotionally high, your mood rise up and you want to know the meaning of songs you like. Moreover, if you listen certain song several times, the words and phrases from this song stored on their own, you do not even have to strain to remember them. It is quite good method to study English without any efforts.

I started my singing career by studying around 70 English songs contemporaneously for my first work with music band in Japan (2008-2009). Listening and singing these songs every day helped me a lot with my English skills.

These days, I met several people who still do not know famous singers and music bands, such as Elvis Presley, Elton John, Bon Jovi, "Queen" etc. I believe that this project will help students not only to study English by singing songs, but develop their musical knowledge and tastes as well.

In addition, I would like to add my list of songs that helped me to develop my English. Also you can see my singing video above. Have fun!!!)))

I'm Alex Villarreal with the VOA Special English Education Report, from http://voaspecialenglish.com | http://facebook.com/voalearningenglish
Songs
teach language. Consider a song like "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega. An
American teaching English overseas once told us that students love that
song.Recently we asked people on the Special English Facebook page to
suggest other songs that English learners might like. Noemi Nito wrote:
I'm one of those English students who love "Tom's Diner." I started
learning English with "Lemon Tree" by Fool's Garden. Another favorite is
"Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden. Another person, Asi Tambunan,
suggested the song "God Only Knows" by Orianthi. Gyongyi Jako wrote that
ABBA's songs from Sweden are perfect for class work. Other good songs
for learning English are songs by the Beatles and John Lennon, as well
as Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful World." Paul Cifuentes says Bob Marley's
songs are amazing for teaching. Another teacher, Joseph Deka, says
songs by Johnny Cash have always worked in his classroom. He says his
students can hear the words, plus the songs often have stories. He also
likes "We Will Rock You" by Queen and "Beautiful Girls" by Sean
Kingston. He says young children love "C Is for Cookie" by Cookie
Monster from the TV show "Sesame Street." Nina John Smith suggested
these songs: "It's My Life" and "We Weren't Born to Follow" by Bon Jovi.
Also "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica.Aurelio Lourenco Costa Gusmao
says he began to like English after his teacher played the Westlife song
"I Have a Dream." He wrote: That was eight years ago. I was in the
seventh grade. And from that day on, my dream of improving my English
skills became attached in my mind. Teachers can use this song to convey
the message to their students that they should have their own dream for
the future. Aurelio's story was no surprise to another commenter, Katie
Kivenko. She especially likes songs by Michael Jackson and Queen. She
wrote: When you listen to your favorite songs, you feel emotionally high
and it moves you to action. For VOA Special English, I'm Alex
Villarreal. Do you have any favorite songs for learning English? You
can share other music suggestions for English learners at our website,
voaspecialenglish.com or on Facebook at VOA Learning English. We are
also on Twitter and iTunes.
